Using AVE to Treat  Seasonal Affective Disorder

(This study using AVE to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder has been published in the Journal of Neurotherapy, Volume 13, Issue 3, pages 166-175.)

SAD is a condition that develops from a lack of direct sunlight to the eyes. This typically occurs in people during the winter months in northern climates, but SAD can also affect anyone who works indoors, including those from the southern USA and tropical countries. It can even affect people who wear UV blocking sunglasses!

Seventy-four people from Edmonton, Alberta,Canada, who were struggling with seasonal depression, anxiety and weight gain, participated in our study. They received Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE) using the DAVID. They were given sub-delta as the placebo for two weeks, then given 20 Hz AVE for 20 minutes (to suppress their high alpha) for two more weeks. There also was a control group who were monitored but didn''t receive any AVE stimulation at all.

The AVE group showed substantial reductions in depression and anxiety with improved mood and energy. Food cravings were down and many of the participatnts in the treatment group lost weight.
